African American Book Expo

I knew about the many book expos around the United States and even some abroad. After all, they are usually talked about in great detail on social media.

What’s not talked about are the many African American Book Expos–and I do mean many.

In fact, a Google search will yield quite a few in different states throughout the U.S. at varies times of the year all with the same name.

It’s a bit hard to keep track. Still, I thought I’d discuss them here.

California-African American Book Expo

The most recent one held in Carson CA on August 18, 2018.

I found this one on PW’s (Publishers Weekly) website.

This event was started by Myss Shan, an author and publisher, in 2017 in Dallas Texas.

PW’s article doesn’t give much information such as time, tickets, etc which lead me to the Google search. The article wasn’t listed where it could be easily found. I happened upon it by pure chance.

The event starts today but if you’re in Cali, you can get the ticket details on Eventbrite.

Georgia-Atlanta African American Book Expo

This event takes place in Atlanta Georgia starting September 14, 2018-September 16, 2018.

The event includes film, music and television. You can read more about the event and book signings here. This doesn’t sound like your Mom’s book expo!

Tickets are available through eventbrite.
