Meet Ella, on the brink of turning 30 and full of regret for a life only half lived. In a haze of heartbreak after splitting up with the man she thought she was going to marry, she makes the only decision that seems rational and buys a one-way ticket to Paris, embarking on a pilgrimage of food, wine, and joie de vivre. Where to begin. I was intrigued by the synopsis, the pretty color and the font.

Ella is having the time of her life, at least she thinks she so. She has a boyfriend she loves, a job that pays the bills, and a gorgeous apartment. Marriage and kids shouldn't be too far off, right?

One a whim, Ella decides to take a trip to where it all begin, Paris. There, she finds a job, new friends, and two new loves: Cheese and a new boyfriend.

I have a 50/50 feeling for this book. Ella's life leading up to her trip to Paris was...dare I say it? Controlled? Her mother, her boyfriend. Her mother blames Ella from ending her relationship and her boyfriend thinks he needs time to "find" himself in another of his latest trends.

My takeaways from this book was Ella's fearlessness in finding and foraging her own path. I learned a little about Paris, including the huge variety of cheese, and the lesson learned...don't let your past define your future.
