If you’ve ever scrolled through your Instagram feed and thought, I wear clothes, eat avocado toast and like sunsets, why can’t someone pay me to live my best life? this book is for you . . . Every one of your favorite influencers started with zero followers and had to make a lot of mistakes to get where they are today—earning more money each year than their parents made in the last decade. But to…

The age of blogging has changed from when I first started in 2005. Now, it’s a mixture of visuals, SEO, tags, meta data, and other words many of us have no idea what they mean or what to do with them.

Books upon books have popped up everywhere regarding influencer marketing, how to get more followers, how to have the best accounts, and what do key words to use. So called online experts are even cashing in on the trend.

What happens when you need to really take the time to just let it sink in?

I’m not one for classes. After all, there’s a reason I was homeschooled.

What I like about Influencer is the no nonsense approach.

Influencer is a four part, 8 chapter book. It covers Building Your Community, Packaging Your Brand, Monetizing Your Influence, and Planning Your Future.

First, the time of the author is a bit condescending. It can and does grate on your nerves after awhile. It comes off as more of bragging but I’ve seen some people in high positions think and act that same way.

Secondly, regardless of her tone the information she provides is valuable.

I’ve taken notes and made a few changes. It helps to be able to go back and refresh with the information in case I missed something.

The example accounts she provides are helpful if you’re in that specific niche. If you’re not, if can be a bit hard to figure out which way to go.

Majorty if bloggers are in the health, fitness, food, beauty, fashion, travel, and mom category. For the rest of us in other niches, it would’ve been nice to have examples.

While majority of the talk is about beauty, style, and travel bloggers (as I keep stressing) you can apply the suggestions to your niche.

For instance, her section about beauty bags, for me it would be a book haul or sock party.

I really love how she puts thinks in perspective. It’s better than bumbling around in the dark like your trapped in a 4x4 closet trying to figure out how to turn on the light.

For those of you super duper new there’s a glossary at the end. I’m not THAT new but I found the glossary extremely helpful! Who else didn’t know what KPI meant?
