After a rough semester, Professor Lyssa Pennington just wants to post her grades and join her husband, Kyle, in Cornwall for Christmas. First, though, she’s expected to host an elegant dinner for Emile Duval, the soon-to-be Chair of Languages at Tompkins College. Too bad no one told Lyssa murder is on the menu. And, by the way, Emile Duval is an imposter. Who is he really? And who wanted him dead? Without those answers, the…

Sipped is the third book in the Penningtons Investigate series. I didn't read the first two books in the series. The book was easy to follow, however, there are some references in the book that talk about the past. You get a sense of what that is, but I think I would've been better prepared had I read the other two books.

With that said, The Penningtons seem to find themselves in mysteries. Lyssa, a professor and Kyle the owner of his own company and from what I read seems to be very well off and comes from a family of money in Cornwall. Lyssa and Kyle see something in the parking lot. Getting involved throws them deep into a mystery of murder in this whodunit.

While the book was easy to follow there are some parts where I found myself shaking my head and wondering what in the world was the point of Lyssa. In some parts she rocked as a leading lady and in other parts it was like a teenager trapped in an adult's body.

Some people may find some sensitivities of alcohol mentioned in this story. The alcohol addition was carefully weaved into the story, however, I found Lyssa's retelling of her past with her father to be... well to put it...borderline  annoying. Some may have a difference of opinion. I'm not sure what the author was going for with Lyssa's father.

I can't say I had any takeaways from this book. I wasn't pulled in the story. I felt like a spectator watching a show that I had a very mild interest in.

This wasn't a story for me, though I'm sure some would love it.
